Where is the paint code on a Toyota?
Certification label on the driver's door jamb. Three characters after C/TR, before the slash. Example: C/TR 040/FB13 means paint code 040 (Super White) and trim FB13.
- Driver's door jamb (B-pillar)
- Engine bay firewall / strut tower
Step by step
- Open the driver's door and look at the B-pillar for the white or silver certification label.
- Find the line marked
C/TR. The paint code is the three characters before the slash. - Older and some non-US models carry the same code on a plate in the engine bay, on the firewall or a front strut tower.
Toyota paint codes are three characters: digits (040, 1F7, 3R3) or letters and digits. Lexus uses the same system.
No label?
Labels fade or go missing after repairs. A Toyota dealer can read the original colour from the VIN, and the service booklet often lists it. If the car has been resprayed, have a painted part (the fuel filler flap is ideal) scanned at a paint shop.
