CarPaintCode

Where is the paint code on a Mercedes-Benz?

Paint label on the B-pillar or the radiator support. Three digits, sometimes with a letter: 040 (Black), 197 (Obsidian Black), 149 (Polar White), 775.

1 2
  1. Driver's door jamb (B-pillar)
  2. Radiator support (front panel)

Step by step

  1. Open the driver's door and look at the B-pillar label; the paint code is often next to Lack/Paint.
  2. On older models open the bonnet and check the radiator support or the inner wing.

If the label shows several numbers, the paint code is the three-digit one next to the colour name.

No label?

Labels fade or go missing after repairs. A Mercedes-Benz dealer can read the original colour from the VIN, and the service booklet often lists it. If the car has been resprayed, have a painted part (the fuel filler flap is ideal) scanned at a paint shop.
