CarPaintCode

Where is the paint code on a Ford?

Vehicle identification plate on the B-pillar. A short code on the plate's paint line; the same colour may also have a longer factory code in paint catalogues.

1 2
  1. Door jamb / B-pillar
  2. Boot (trunk) floor / spare-wheel well

Step by step

  1. Open the front door (driver's or passenger's side, depending on the model) and look for the metal or sticker VIN plate on the B-pillar.
  2. Find the line or box for the paint (body colour) code.
  3. If the plate is unreadable, the service booklet or a Ford dealer can look the colour up from the VIN.

Ford Europe codes differ from North American ones even for similar colours, so search under the right Ford.

No label?

Labels fade or go missing after repairs. A Ford dealer can read the original colour from the VIN, and the service booklet often lists it. If the car has been resprayed, have a painted part (the fuel filler flap is ideal) scanned at a paint shop.
